PLEASE FOLLOW THE STEPS BELOW TO BEGIN THE ENROLLMENT PROCESS
1. Select category that best suits your child. If you are still unsure, give ISR Cajun Country a call and an instructor will be more than happy to help you. Remember this is a 6-week program and it takes full commitment.
6 Months - 6 Years
- Child Must be New to the ISR Program
- If you have an Infant (who is able to sit up unassisted) that is 6 months to 12 months old or a toddler that is not walking, this is the lesson type to choose.
- ISR requires children to be at least 6 moths old and be able to sit up independently in order for the registration process to be completed. For ISR purposes, sitting up independently means getting into a sitting position without assistance and then maintaining the sitting position without assistance for at least one minute. This milestone indicates that a child has the core strength necessary to make the rotational movements required for ISR lessons.
- Your child will receive customized, one on one lessons in which he or she will learn the fundamental ISR skills of rolling onto their backs to float, rest, and breathe along with maintaining this life-saving position until help arrives.
12 Months - 6 Years
- If you have a child 12 months to 6 years old; this is the lesson type to choose.
- Children must be at least 12 months old and walking in order to learn the swim-float-swim sequence. The milestone of walking indicates adequate gross motor development necessary for coordinated swimming movements and sequencing.
- Your child will receive customized, one on one lessons in which he or she will learn the fundamental ISR skills of swimming with their face in the water then roll back to their back and float. After resting and catching their breath, they roll over and continue to swim to the nearest point of safety.
- Not every child in this age group will swim-float-swim; some will only swim-float-stay. The instructor will determine which sequence the child is best suited for in order to maximize his or her level of proficiency to sustain survival.
- These two programs consist of 5 days a week Monday through Friday, maximum of 10 minutes a day, for approximately 6 weeks.
- Each child's learning ability depends on his or her age and developmental readiness; therefore, your child may graduate the program before the estimated 6 weeks.
- Please Note: Once you determine your start date; you will be scheduled automatically for 6 weeks from that start date.
